It is exciting to welcome new universities and nations to the SD worldwide community. The 2018 edition of this competition is driven by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and will follow the footsteps of its predecessors by embracing the mandate of the original U.S. Solar Decathlon. Teams have been selected
to design, build and operate grid-connected, solar-powerd houses that combine research, sustainability
and innovation. They must provide ideas to increase energy-efficiency, propose novel solutions and generate knowledge for a more sustainable built environment. All of this in the very specific conditions of heat, dust and high humidity in the Middle East! The Dubai Solar Hai, the SDME competition site, will be the venue for a new chapter in sustainable housing.
